Assorted Cochins are a massive Asiatic breed covered with an extraordinary abundance of soft, fluffy colored feathers. Cochins were introduced from China in the mid-1800s as Shanghais, and they created a sensation wherever shown. Today this breed is still a beautiful show bird and highly prized for exhibition. The Standard size Assorted Cochins are one of our family favorites.
They have a bright red, single comb, along with red wattles, earlobes, and a red patch around the eyes. These large, feather-footed birds have an excellent disposition making them a good choice for a backyard flock or urban setting, and they weather the cold well. Cochin hens lay small, cream/brown eggs, and are good setters. This chicken is also great around children making it a perfect pet for the family farm. Many people who like this breed of chicken also like the miniature version of the breed (bantam) Cochins. Assortment may include: Barred, Black, Blue, Buff, Golden Laced, Partridge, Silver Laced, Splash, White.
