Large Fowl Blue Ameraucanas are one of several color varieties of Ameraucana chickens recognized by the APA. Blue chickens are based on blacks, but with the black feathers diluted to blue by the blue gene (Bl). The feathers are a blue/gray color, but the eggs are true blue. Ideally each feather is laced with black. We started offering Blue Ameraucana day-old chicks in 2019. These are not “Easter Eggers”, nor are they “Araucana”…they are the real deal! We have a limited supply of this rare variety that was created by John W Blehm. These are in limited supply. You will love these baby chicks and can watch them grow up to lay beautiful shades of blue eggs for your table.
Breeding Note: Blue chickens do not breed true and our blue to blue matings produce approximately 50% blue chicks, 25% black chicks and 25% splash chicks. We will send as many blues as we can in your order, but please also expect some black and splash Ameraucana chicks in your order.
Sexing is only about 70%-85% accurate. We suggest buying Not Sexed.
