Golden Laced Cochin Bantams

$4.05

Golden Laced Cochin Bantams are an Asiatic breed covered with an extraordinary abundance of soft, fluffy colored feathers.  The Cochins were introduced from China in the mid-1800s as Shanghais, and they created a sensation wherever shown.  Today this breed is still a beautiful show bird and highly prized for exhibition.  They make remarkably good pets, and a pet Cochin can live between 8-10 years.  These Bantam size Cochins are one of our family favorites.

Golden Laced Cochin bantam chicks are dark brown with light brown streaks down the back. They have single combs and feathered, yellow feet and legs.  Adult males have a rich golden bay head with each feather having a black stripe.  The hackle feathers are greenish black laced with golden bay and the saddle feathers are golden bay with a black stripe.  The wing bows are golden bay and the wing fronts are black with golden bay centers.  The primaries are black with golden bay edging, the main tail is black, and the front of the neck, body, breast, thigh, shank and toe feathers are golden bay laced with greenish black.  Adult females have a gold head while each feather of the neck is black laced with gold. The plumage on the front of the neck, breast, back, body, lower thighs, shanks and toes are gold laced with greenish black.  The wing primaries and secondaries are black laced with gold edging.

These feather-footed birds have an excellent disposition making them a good choice for a backyard flock or urban setting, and they weather the cold well.  Cochin hens lay small, brown eggs, and are good setters.  This chicken is also great around children making it a perfect pet for the family farm.  Many people who love the Bantam Cochin chickens also like the Standard Size version of the breed.

**Our bantams are purebred and represent the breed and variety; however, we do not guarantee or represent that they are of show quality.**
