ISA Browns Sexlink Female chicks are a rust red color and males are light yellow. This helps us accurately sex the chicks! Not only that, but the ISA Browns was developed from the start as a free foraging bird with nest laying instincts. This means you’ll be collecting clean eggs from the nesting boxes – not the floor! Plus, these brown eggs have consistently stronger shells (provided they are fed with a quality layer ration) so they don’t break quite as easy in your egg basket. Your eggs will also be cheaper than many heritage breeds since these breeds have have an excellent feed conversion. This means that they are small birds that don’t eat much feed but still produce many, large eggs, which makes each egg cheaper to produce. This exceptional red sex link also has one of the most docile personalities making it a backyard egg laying champion!
These chickens are known to lay 395 L to XL sized eggs in 72 weeks of laying. Half your chickens will lay an egg by 20-22 weeks (around 5 1/2 months) of age. Week 92 (23 months) will be end of lay. These red sex Links have predictable laying spans of about 72 weeks (18 months) in which they produce about 395 eggs. They will continue to lay after that but production will drop considerably.
