The Silver Duckwing Phoenix Standard chicken was developed from the Onagadori Japanese breed. Phoenix Chickens have have amazingly long tail feathers’ especially in the roosters, and are great for Exhibition. Females are a poor layer of small eggs but do tend to be broody and will sit and hatch their young. Adult females have a silvery white head and neck with the neck having a narrow stripe of black. The front of the neck is light reddish salmon and the breast is salmon shading to gray on the sides. The back and tail coverts are dark grey, stippled with silvery gray, the main tail is black. Adult males have silvery white back, saddle and wing bows. The breast, tail sickles and coverts are emerald black while the smaller coverts are white. They have bright red wattles, single combs and clean, slate blue legs and feet.
