Splash Cochin

$4.65

Splash Cochin chickens are a massive Asiatic breed covered with an extraordinary abundance of soft, fluffy colored feathers.  Splash cochins vary from white with splashes of blue to almost blue with splashes of white, often in a gorgeous mixed pattern.  They have a bright red, single comb, along with red wattles, earlobes, and a red patch around the eyes.  Cochins were introduced from China in the mid-1800s as Shanghais, and they created a sensation wherever shown. Today this breed is still a beautiful show bird and highly prized for exhibition.

The Standard size Splash Cochin is one of our family favorites. These large, feather-footed birds have an excellent disposition making them a good choice for a backyard flock or urban setting, and they weather the cold well.  Cochin hens lay small, cream/brown eggs, and are good setters.  This chicken is also great around children making it a perfect pet for the family farm.  Many people who like this breed of chicken also like the miniature version of the breed (bantam) Splash Cochin.
