Appenzeller Spitzhauben Chickens are an active, ornamental bird originating from Switzerland. They were originally bred for steep, mountainous terrain, and are therefore good fliers, climbers, and foragers. If given the opportunity, they will forage nearly all of their food needs . They like to roost in trees especially during cold snaps. They boast a single pointed hood, with feathers defined as crazy in a “Cruella de Vil” sort of way.
Spitzhaubens will lay around 3 medium sized white eggs per week. They have V-combs and are not typically broody. We offer the Silver Spangled variety of Appenzeller Spitzhauben.
